Lough Currane Waterville - Home of Ireland's largest Sea Trout

Without doubt Waterville is the region to visit if large sea trout are on the agenda with the Waterville System producing the majority of specimen sea trout in Ireland. Spring salmon are in excellent numbers and these wonderful fish are regularily taken on fly throughout the Spring. Waterville is a modern town which offers the angling guest comfortable accomodation and a friendly environment. The Many pubs and restaurants provide a wonderful angling atmosphere for all to enjoy.

Lough Currane
Lough Currane sits only a few feet above sea-level, with a beautiful backdrop of mountains and spruce forests. Measuring four miles by two miles (at the widest point), it is by far the largest lake’ on the Waterville System. Large spring salmon, summer grilse and vast numbers of sea trout have to run only a short 500 metres length of river to reach the lough. Fly-fishing is the norm and some trolling for early season sport. Ghillies will hold the boat close to underwater rocks, islands and headlands, where large sea trout and spring salmon lie, while anglers fly fish. Seatrout can be found all over the Lough and often the most successful anglers are those who experiment with new drifts and try something different....

Skellig Coast Fishing Charters Cahersiveen / Valentia Island

The waters are clear and unpolluted, warmed by the Gulf Stream, enriching these fishing grounds with a wide variety of fish – making it a very popular destination for all anglers! Twice over the last number of years, the European Federation of Sea Anglers have held the European Championships here in Cahirsiveen/Valentia area due to the quantity and quality of the fishing and the amount of species available with 35 different types of
fish caught over a five day period. The variety of fish caught on a daily basis can include: Conger Eel, Ling, Pollack, Ballan & Cuckoo Wrasse, Pouting, Whiting, Haddock, Red & Grey Gurnard, Cod, Dogfish and Bullhuss. Mackerel are always caught in abundance and can be used as bait for any fish.

Earthshots.org features my second image. Feel very honored. This is Rossbeigh Beach, County Kerry. Rossbeigh Beach is one of the most beautiful Beaches of Iveragh Peninsula, Ireland. I was lucky enough to capture this massiv storm cloud during a wonderful pink sunset.

Eightercua - a four-stone alignment (stone-row) Megalithic tomb 13. January 2010

Eightercua is a four-stone alignment (stone-row) Megalithic tomb, located 1.5 km south-south-east of Waterville, County Kerry, Ireland. The tallest stone reaches 9 feet in height, and the alignment streaches for twenty five feet in an east-west direction. Surrounding artifacts, including remains of a possible tomb and an ancient enclosure, suggest that the site had a ritual purpose at one time. Eightercua is thought to originate from circa. 1700 BC, and by tradition is the burial place of Scéine, wife of the leader of the Milesian invaders, Amergin mac Míled
